I have a spyware problem, and so far the technitians that I've talked to over the phone are telling me the only way to fix it is to reinstall Windows XP. Damn, isn't there a better method? And the forum for the hijackers is closed to new people... so what should I do?

The two bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than most others) are: SpywareInfo.Com (http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/index.php) and ComputerCops.Biz (http://computercops.biz/modules.php?name=Forums). Be sure to read their posting policy in the links at their log review forum sections prior to posting.

I'm looking for a person who can manufacture a register scanner that will remove item that are listed in simple text file.
The most basic spyware removal program.

HijackThis log file analysis
HijackThis is a program used by experienced users in order to detect browser hijackers. It allows you to identify any sort of spyware and malware (as well as some trojan horses and worms). This is achieved by scanning special zones of the registry as well as the hard disk drive, the results being listed in a structured window. Another feature of HijackThis is the creation of a log file, which can be saved as a simple text file and opened by any text editor (notepad as default). Until now, inexperienced users, who could not analyze the log file by themselves, had no other choice than posting it in a specialized forum and to hope that a more experienced user takes some time to analyze it. The script presented on this page is a way to analyze your log without help from the outside: simply copy/paste the content of the log file in the textbox below and hit the analyze button.
Take a look here, if you are uncertain what to do do nothing but leave it to experts on one of the mentioned forums. But it is good to see for yourself what is wrong or suspicious in your logfile.
Any Mod who dont like this posting feel free to remove it or add some additional info/warning.
Cheers,
Gerard

gerardwil,
Regarding [url]http://hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english
Is there a forum in English (all the forums linked from the above are in German) where I could ask a question regarding the results of the scan?
Many thanks,
Nathan Larson

Hi Gerard, that was my fault. Shortly after the post I was changing some mod_rewrite code which caused http://castlecops.com to fail, but http://computercops.biz was functional. It took about 10 minutes for me to rectify that.
CastleCops.com is up and running well since.

Well "CC" is just an abbreviation right? It still uses "CC" for that purpose, but its not CastleCops(SM).
As for http://castlecops.com/reviews-6.html, its an outdated review. I'm not going to remove it, but perhaps create an entry specifying a product's health (CURRENT/END OF LIFE).

That will work since right now it has better health review than Norton and DOA's are like MIA in this case.
