Hi Root (or anyone else who might know),

You said about spider mail in the update section "If you use DrWeb and haven't been using this, trust me, its a keeper. Been working great on my system."
I thought that spider guard watched over mail. Could you explain for myself, and others, why it's a good idea to get spider mail?

Thanks alot!
Scotcov

Spidermail is the DrWeb version of a devoted email checker, that works at the Pop3 level.
-{ Quote: "[31.07.2002]
For the first time in the world a unique technology allowing users of ANY e-mail client, using POP3 for the mail receiving, to check the in-coming messages before they are proceeded by the mail client, is realised by developers of Anti-virus laboratory of Igor Danilof. From now on, if any malicious code is found in an in- going e-mail message, such a message will be immediately intercepted by SpIDer Mail and will not be able to cause any harm to a recipient's system, regardless which client is used for the mail receiving.

It is common knowledge, that nowadays electronic mail became the main "channel of circulation " of various sort of malicious programs - mail worms, file infectors, macroviruses and Trojan Horses. Mail worms play an active role in this process using various security systems exploits in some mail clients. According to DialogueScience Inc. Virus Monitoring Group data the mail worms share amongst the viruses ploughing Internet exceeded 96% during the previous month. The SpIDer Mail program presents a reliable and insuperable obstacle for such threats. " }-

The choice is up to you. I recommend it, even though DrWeb does off email protection. This offers more, sooner.
It,s working for me, so my attitude is, hey this is another layer of protection in the one place where most malware enters a computer, namely email.
Hope that answers your question. :)

Thanks Root. That made great sense. :)
Seems like we need all the protection we can get nowadays.

I dled SpiderMail. I didn't realize it was free! (At least for lregistered users).
It doesn't seem to take any extra resources.

Tim,
I'm quoting Root:
"It also has an install bat, but I didn't use it. After I copy the new files to the DrWeb directory, I just click on Spiderml.exe and it asks if I want to install. I say yes, reboot and its done."
That's what I did, and it worked perfectly.
