AMON Settings (Unchecking open files)

Does unchecking the scan files on open compromise security? They will still be scanned during executing and creation. This setting saves a noticeable bit of battery life on my laptop, but as was pointed out by Mele2o in another thread the help file recommends leaving the default settings. Suggestions?
