View Full Version : Active X - Java - Cookies - Referrers Controller?

Hello,
I am using NOD32 and here's my problem. NOD32 is fine! The firewall problems are not! I used to use Agnitum Outpost Pro, until 3 days ago... The firewall part runs fine, the active content plug in is unstable. I set it so it would prompt me for active x and java applets, and to allow cookies and java script (I have Script Sentry to take care of that, I think), and also to block referrers.. It will allow me to either accept or block, and then make a rule so it will be the same for the next time I visit that same page. I have to get on "intranet" sites, and Agnitum's plug in doesn't allow me to enter an active content rule for websites over a certain length. I got fed up and uninstalled it, and installed Kerio. Kerio doesn't have anything like that included. Agnitum also had a great pop up ad blocker. I am now trialing "Pop Up Cop" and it's okay, but it doesn't have anything for "on the fly" active content rule creation. I tried Finjan and I hated it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please don' suggest ZoneAlarm..
;)

Welcome Straight Shooter,
Since you are looking for a firewall that has all the special controls noted, I've moved you over to the Firewall forum where you are likely to get the most responses.
Since I've only used Tiny and Zone Alarm, I won't be making suggestions myself. ;)
Best Wishes,

I would suggest Adshield (http://adshield.org/).
It allows you to rightclick popups, adds etc you don't want to see anymore and add them to your blocklist.

Pieter

Thank you... I actually used Zone Alarm Pro 3.1 + for a short while (I bought it) but the "mobile code wasn't as configurable as Agnitum's, so I uninstalled it.. Actually the biggest reason I uninstalled it is slowed the internet way down!! Even pulling CNEt was a Forever long wait.. I may go back, if they can straight out their active content part (Mobile code)...
I will try adshield now...

Mind you, it is not a firewall. It's an extra application that IMO gives the user full control about what he wants to let trough to his screen.

In regards to popup control programs,I've tried quite a few.I finally settled on Spyblocker. It's shareware(less than $20.00)with a trail version available. It blocks a lot of stuff, popups and more!Works really well with my firewall. As for an address,a Google search is how I found it.There are a lot of free popup killers that work ok.Webattack has a lot of them.

Some popup blockers (Power to the people).
All of these are 100% pure freeware, no trial periods. Some of these do more than just handle popups.

Thanks, root. Actually, my firewall takes care of most popups and unders but there were still many sneaking through. So I did not want to spend any money on an app just for popups (I already paid $50 for my firewall). But no lie, since adding AdShield about two months ago, I have not seen one popup or under. Have a nice weekend.

Jee,.. Tahnks for all the addresses.. However, I was able to fix the problem I had with Agnitum Outpost, admittedly, I did not know I needed to refresh the page after a change in the active content. I hope your info will help someone else, though...
