Pest Patrol false positive?

Hello

Do any current Pest Patrol users (fully updated) get this detection after running a full scan with PP? (NetSpy Keylogger in C:\WINDOWS\uninstall.exe) I found this after downloading the latest (very recent) PP updates and running a full system scan. I am assuming it is a false positive, but just incase i'm asking here for any feedback. Thanks for any replies from Pest Patrol users.

Well, i myself have used pestpatrol last time, and i say it gave me tons of false positives. Pestpatrol's performance sucks and it gives FPs all the time. Pestpatrol's tech support is so lousy too.

I cannot tell you whether it's an FP or not, but that's the reason I gave up on PP over 18months ago, the false positives!!

Obviously many people like and use PP, but if you look at many forums, you will see the growing # 1 concern with PP if the FP's. Here and DSLR to name just 2.

the best advice, if you have another program, like Spybot Search and Destroy or AdAware or SpySweeper, then I suggest you do a scan with those.

Actually, I would recommend if you do not have Spybot or AdAware, get them anyway and scan, see what results you get.

Yes, I get the same NetSpy Keylogger in the same directory. It is a false positive because I scanned it with SpyCop which specializes in keyloggers and it did not report it as a keylogger. Also, the files that normally exist with NetSpy don't exist on my system.

What I understand from that thread : it was not uninstall.exe but uninst.exe

As said both here and there: cross check it with other scanners (on your system and online scanners).
Do not rely only on PestPatrol !

Yes i copied it down wrong, after my scan with Pest Patrol it should have read uninst.exe, thanks for pointing that out FanJ.

I chose to post on more than one forum, because sometimes you won't always receive an answer on one forum, so posting on a few different forums is more likely to produce an answer.

Also it helps to get the word out about a possible Pest Patrol problem, so others can be made aware, and take the proper steps to alleviate the situation.

I agree with Nadirah as well because of their bad performance. It doesn't get too many of the spyware. Also when I downloaded another software when I had Pest Patrol running it detected a spyware that Pest Patrol onloaded on my computer because that software detected it and I never had any downloads then that would given me spyware. I don't know about their support but if its anything like SpySweeper then your right! :-*
