View Full Version : Keeping Private Messages private

One thing that slightly bothers me is that Private Message notification emails from Wilders include the contents of the PM itself. Given that email is insecure by default, is there any way to exclude the PM contents? (on other forums, the notification just mentions that a new PM is present). There appears to be nothing in the User CP to cover this, and I do not want to dispense with email notification altogether.

I only see the notification, cant open from there. I have to go to my mailbox.
Using FF.

That functionality is by design. It's the way the old forum (YaBB SE) handled PM notifications, and because many people liked getting a copy of their PMs in email, including myself, I carried it over to this software.
Unfortunately, the code that sends the notification messages out can't be easily customized to provide a per-user setting for the content of the message. So basically the only choice is to send notifications or not. If you want email notifications then a copy of the message will go with it.

Thanks for the reply LWM, though it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. ;)
