How many of you guys checking out the new Beta have Xp Home? It would help if it was posted what you are running so us chicken hearted folks will know the compatability is ok.

Using XP Home, it locked up on the first restart and had to restart again, but seems fine now, a tad bit slower than before but still much better than when I trialed KAV 5 a month or so ago.

XP home here. No problems so far and I notice no speed drop.

Same results . . . no speed drop and no error screens. My firewalls are router-based (NAT) and "stateful."

Jim

Thank you all for the replies. The reason for my concern was the update to 2.0009 . It messed me up good. Took a while to straighten out that mess.

Ahhhh that's been a while now, you can safely update to the new release. I completely forgot about that, until a client asked about it yesterday, and now you ;D Once burnt, twice shy ;) Fully understand...

Cheers ;D

I decided this morning to give the beta a try. Hey, no guts, no glory. ;) ;D I'm using it with XP Home. No problems so far. It take a couple of more minutes to do a scan than with NOD32 2.0009, but on big deal. :)

I also to am using the new beta. I also used it while playing online games. No speed slowness, and no BSODs. I guess tomorrow will be the big test at work.

Is it best to uninstall and re-download or just update?

I and a few others have just loaded straight over the top without any problems...

Hope this helps...

Cheers ;D

I uninstalled, deleted the Eset folder in program files and reinstalled.

This is probably the better way to do things...

I have been just loading Beta over original and then Beta over Beta ever since...

Cheers ;D

I wonder if this beta is more for XP than earlier OSes? I had W98SE give general protection faults twice both when uninstalling the old version and then when installing the new beta. I haven't put this latest beta on my XP box but did have earlier betas on it and never had problems with the uninstall of the earlier version and install of the beta. Eset says to uninstall before installing the beta so why are you guys not doing that?

I beta tested with XP Home. All went smoothly enough. I forgot to update first time and took about 2 mins longer. Updated and re-run and oddly enough it only took about a min longer. I thought with the update it would be longer again.
I have one negative point and maybe it can be disabled, haven't checked yet.
The d/load progress box in bottom right corner gets quite big, at one point it had 10 progress bars running at once. Must have been about 3 inches high at one stage.
I was reading about installing and it said to remove even the old ESET folder in Program Files. Also that scan problem in AMON where it is always scanning
BOClean is still there.
Overall I like it and should be able to live with the little problems until hopefully there will be a fix. ;)

;D

No probs. Do we use our regular U/N and P/W for the beta? Are you only interested in XP Home result and not Pro.

You use your regular user/pass, the trial versions of beta do not require them for update.

For those who mind the download status windows popping up beneath the system tray - you can turn off the display of them by unticking the appropriate check-box on the advanced tab in IMON setup:
