View Full Version : Anyone wants to test NAV 2005 BETA ?

It looks they have been working hard... Memory usage is within normal limits (still a bit too much compared to avast!,F-Prot or NOD32),but much better compared to NAV2004. They should also merge all processes together because i can count um 8 of them. It just makes a bigger mess. Also its internal scan speed is much faster,especially Real-time one. But on the other hand i cannot tell much about detection. I have set Bloodhound to Max and other things left intact (they are set ok). Lets wait and see :)

Does the prog also incorporate the outbound worm heuristics like in SAV9 corp? Also does it contain the mediocre (at best) spyware protection also found in SAV9?

Don't Install it.You can't uninstall it anymore

I have installed it and it is very nice and they have hard working on it
It scans faster,have Worm protection

I've to uninstall my AV's to install this, then I will not test it now...

I continue to have the same opinion about Norton...

This version continues to have a lot of files running at the same time, consume a lot of resources, I don't like the GUI, the internet updater, takes a lot of disk space, the options...

I think that I will not try again the Norton until I find a review that tell me that they totally change their AV...

Well you have noticed the same as me. I think they should take time,hire few more programmers and totaly redesign whole arhitecture. They are just adding more and more processes with each release. Its just geting fatter and fatter with no optimizations. I'm pretty sure Symantec programmers are capable enough to do such thing,i just wonder what their managers/commercialists think... Also their LiveUpdate defs are always behind those you can download manually (that quiet big SFX package). I thout automatic updates are most imoortant thing of every AV...

This program's horrible. I've seen it myself. It's the same thing as NAV 2004. Got some issues with installation/uninstallation. The same resource hog. I don't see any difference between NAV 2004 and NAV 2005. Maybe Symantec should release an Antivirus that changes its title with every incoming year, and that would be more honest than what they're doing right now. They are developing "new" software, they say it's new. And it's the same product with a different cover, not even with a different cover sorry, just with a different title. They pretend to release new software but they don't, they just add a few tweaks and a few different colors to charge people, and the poor people that keep believing in Symantec. What a shame! That's why I said they should release a software that changes its title automatically when we get to new year's eve. It's unbelievable how low Symantec has got ;D Symantec makes me laugh, what a joke !

Iīve been using for a year, and donīt know why Iīve doing it for so long!
Itīs a big resource eater, updates are few a week (in this time this is really dangerous), uninstall process could be tedious to some users (not my case), ... what more... hum! disabling script blocker itīs a nice simple feature (you can download this little ap as stand-alone util), detection is worse than KAV or McAfee. I have now others preferences in AV than Symantec, so I donīt want this if they give me for free.
