This was originally deleted because it was a duplicate posting in the Update Alerts section, however, it has been restored as a discussion regarding the date format in this product.

Guess this forum has changed alot since the early days huh?

Just thought it was a bit funny for the DEF's date.
Guess others didn't think so ey?

Found this. Here (http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-time.html)

A remark for readers from German speaking countries:

The German standard DIN 5008, which specifies typographical rules for German texts written on typewriters, was updated in 1996-05. The old German numeric date notations DD.MM.YYYY and DD.MM.YY have been replaced by the ISO date notations YYYY-MM-DD and YY-MM-DD. Similarly, the old German time notations hh.mm and hh.mm.ss have been replaced by the ISO notations hh:mm and hh:mm:ss. Those new notations are now also mentioned in the latest edition of the Duden. The German alphanumeric date notation continues to be for example "3. August 1994" or "3. Aug. 1994". The corresponding Austrian standard has already used the ISO 8601 date and time notations before.

Well actually being located in europe it would be 12/07/2004 not 7/12/2004 which is what americans use. Its the logical approach to dating, going from the shortest time period to longest ie day/month/year not month/day/year

To everyone from Firefighter!

Strange indeed! When the cultural background of American society is definitely from European soil and most of all from the continent of Europe itself (as a matter of fact, not from UK either, there is only 60 million inhabitants when in EU there is about 450 million), how they can't understand pure European thinking logic and metric system, that's in all a mirror of easy living? ;)

Best regards,
Firefighter!

Has anyone thought about TIMELINES? If you are in time zone that is behind(i.e. its 10 PM) the one where definitions were released (i.e its +3h timezone relative to that one,so its 1 AM in the morning NEXT day) then it looks like you have definitions with wrong date. And if the midnight is in between... Logical isn't it? :P

The date is correct for this end of the world, 12th of July, 2004, and it is logical - Day, Month, Year, Decade, Century, Millenium... not 7th of December, 2004.

Cheers ;D

What blackspear says.... ::)

It IS logical to have Day, Month, Year... UK and Australia/New Zealand run as day/month/year...

There are more countries than America I believe. >:(

TAS

EDIT: Bugger it, I am going to have a whinge. What really pisses me off is some software developers, even in this country, as changing their coding to suit America in dates, and spelling... colour/color; minimise/minimize; etc. etc. etc. *grrrr*

Now some of you guys are just getting a ***small*** taste of us trying to "think" our way back to what the date really is when we have to try and read them, which are back to front for "us". :)

[/ends rant] ;)

{QUOTE-> ...and spelling... colour/color; minimise/minimize... <-QUOTE}

Have to disagree here, I'm all for phonetic spelling, and the more the merrier, I'm a bad speller, I blame it on the illogical poms that developed the language in the first place, reckon it was made hard to distinguish the elite from the plebs... Some examples of the english language;

The bandage was wound around the wound.

The farm was used to produce produce.

The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

We must polish the Polish furniture.

He could lead if he would get the lead out.

The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.

A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

I did not object to the object.

The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

They were too close to the door to close it.

The buck does funny things when the does are present.

A seamstress and a sewer fell down into a sewer line.

To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

After a number of injections my jaw got number.

Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

I give up!!!

I have decided to study Swahili...

Cheers ;D ;D ;D

ROFLMFAO 8) .... nah.. sorry, not meant to be... it just amazed me that a lot of people automatically thought it was a mistake.

But I don't blame the posters for that, simply because growing up in say USA, they would be used to it, from birth.

Also, because of "Uncle Bill's" Windows being born there, the coding for the dates would naturally be in "USA speekzees" ;D ;D

So anyone deciding to keep that "war" alive with me, dont' worry, I have had my say. 8)

Actually I think its a prime example of the aragonce the rest of the world has to cope with from many americans. Now I know that this is a sterotypical view and doesn't represent every american, nor does it represent a many (if all) of the members here

To everyone from Firefighter!

And the original Budweiser is made in Czech Republic, but now I can get that excellent BEER only by name Budejovicky Budvar.

http://www.courier-journal.com/business/news2004/03/02/F3-bud02-6477.html

That's all, because the yanks stole the name and it's trademark to their younger BUD, made of RICE. How they can even piss that s...? I wonder, when do they steal SAKE from Japanese? ;) ;D ;D ;D

Well gollie ,,, look what this has developed into :o

Yes America started out as thirteen collinies at first, mostly English and yes there was a difference of how they spoke compared to the the lower class peoples. The Judges and politicians wore wigs for gods sake LOL
I always thought that was funny while reading history in school. What we do hold sacred about those odd looking fellows is their constituiion.
If i remember correct 180,000 witches were executed for which-craft. It started in Europe and moved it's way here.
Yes we did drop the A-bomb on Japan, killing hundred of thousands of innocent woman and children.
No I won't get into politics, since I hate that stuff.
What happened later was immigrants from all over the world came to settle here
and formed an all English speaking country. At one time I knew why we don't use metric but can't remember now. I know I never liked metric in school LOL
To me all people of the world are bacicaly the same. We eat, drink, make love
and sin. The only thing that seperates us is our governments.

Now wasn't this fun? ;D
