Hi All, ;)

Well seeing as Wilders' has gone to Mars ... in a simular type fashion why not a BBQ celebrating both Canada Day (July 1st) & Independence Day (July 4th) ... pure fantasy ... with lots of mouth drooling pic's and maybe a few receipes.

So .... Welcome to the Wilders' Family BBQ ;D

I'm bring some Ribs 'n Corn on the Cob. (pic's to follow) ... I'll throw in a Keg too!

Man, I love a Good BBQ ... Hope your all coming! ;) ~remember it's pot luck, so bring a dish~

And a recipe:

1. Indonesian Saté from Harlingen, Friesland (The Netherlands)

Ingredients for two pounds of Saté:

1 pound of fat pork

1 pound of lean pork

50 wooden Saté sticks or bamboo skewers

Marinade:

2 tablespoons of Ketjap (soy sauce)

2 tablespoons of Sunflower oil (or preferably cornflower oil)

Salt & ground black pepper

1 finely chopped onion

2 minced cloves of garlick

2 teaspoons of ketoembar (or ground Coriander corns)

1 teaspoon of Djintan (or Cumin powder)

2 teaspoons of Laos powder (other names are Galangal or Lengkuas, a root from the ginger-family)

A firm squeeze of lemon-juice

Preparation:

the meat should be diced in 2 cm (less than 1 inch) cubes.

Mix the ingredients for the marinade with the cubes and marinate the meat for half a day, keeping the fat and lean pork pieces separate.

Skewer 4 pieces of meat on every stick. Alternate the cubes of fat and lean pork on every stick

Grill the Saté over medium to hot coals for about 10 minutes.

Serve with white bread or cooked rice.

Traditionally the Saté is served with Indonesian Peanut sauce , but I think the taste of well-made Saté is just fine without it.

With thanks to Ciska Faber

Hi Geraldwil, ;)

I've been looking for a receipe like that ... I dated a Dutch girl in my 20's her father made something simular to that ... Man, they were FANTASTIC!!!

I'll try this receipe out ... Thanks much! ;)

BTW: here's a pic of the location. ;)

How about some cabrito? Believe me, it's good.

20 lb Goat or barbado

1 c Salt

1 Dry jalapeno (ground)

1 tb Black pepper

1 tsp Cumin (approximately)

BARBECUE SAUCE

2 cup Sugar (or to taste)

1 cup Prepared mustard

1/2 cup Apple cider vinegar

1 tsp Salt

1 tsp Black pepper

Mix salt, jalapeno, black pepper and cumin. Sprinkle

meat generously. Cook

slowly on grill 2 hours (or less depending on cut of

meat). Be sure meat is

well above fire (at least 20 to 24 inches). Meat may

be brushed with cooking

oil occasionally to prevent dryness. While meat cooks

prepare sauce. At least 30 minutes before removing

from fire; brush meat with sauce so it will

"set". Continue cooking and turn the meat often,

brushing on sauce at every

turn.

Hi All, ;)

Hmmmm ... maybe we'll do a cook off (contest) of our own. Chili? Ribs?

For prizes ... maybe we could design some Wilders' garb ... T-shirt, hats, stickers etc. and a Wilders' trophy for 1st place. ... actually this would be a pretty cool real world idea ... seeing as Wilders' doesn't take donations maybe the proceeds could go to freeware/donateware author's like Javacool ... maybe even some Javacool garb ... both are catchy names and would make some pretty cool garb ... this might start a new fad! ;)

What do you all think? Maybe I'll something this in the general forum.

If we could all get together and have a real "Wilders' Party" like this fantasy one ... it'd sure be a Fine event.

That's a nice link you have here Ronjor!!! Ray Charles is/was a true singer. :)

As many have noted here it is Confederation Day here in Canada but it is also the 400th anniversary of the arrival in the "New World" of the Acadians, from whose stock come the Louisianna Cajuns as well as the people in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. They are well-known for their cooking and their singing. ;)

Wow, turducken! :) That sounds nice, but it makes me worry a little... if there were a super large Cajun feast, maybe there would be a sort of turducken "arms-race" of sorts where they might be looking for something else to debone and stuff the turducken into. ;D
