I purchased a new computer, removed the litterware known as Norton, and then restarted computer a couple times to make sure everything worked. Once I found that everything (including accessing the net) worked, I installed my NOD32. However, once it is installed, I can't access the internet. I talked to my ISP help and they walked me through numerous possibilities, but no matter what we did or changed, I can't access the net with NOD32 installed. So, I removed NOD32 and installed Avast, and everything worked fine again. So, I again tried NOD32, but no go. So, I am back to Avast, but want my NOD32 back. Any suggestions?
AMD 3000+, 512 mb mem, cable net, 160 mb harddrive, Windows XP Home, latest IE and OE installed, Fortron 350 watt ps, 2 DVD recorders.

Have you used a Registry Cleaner to remove all the remnants of Norton?
After this, go to Nod32 Control Centre> IMON> Setup> Advanced Tab> click on "Repair Now". Then it will ask to reboot your PC.
Also see the following thread there is a link for a newer version of IMON:

Hope this helps...

I did numerous search and delete clearings of all things Norton and Symantec in the register (through Regsupreme, Regseeker, Registeryclean, and manual searching). Norton is such a litterware garbage bin that it is likely I didn't catch every thing, but I don't know why Avast would work when NOD32 doesn't.
Anyway, will try the suggests you provided this weekend and see if it all straightens out. Thanks for the answer(s).

For further info regarding removal of Norton, see: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606
Nod32 uses and affects LSP, and sometimes this just needs a bit of a kick along, the repair function usually fixes the problem, once in a very rare "Blue" moon you have to use a LSP fixing tool found at: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
