Plz help!!!????

Hey guys, I tried port explorer, and worm guard, and trojan finder by cs.
I only got the trials to try them out, cause I had a seriouly nasty lil problem, but I fixed that without the software. I tried to uninstall all three.....I lose my connection to internet??
Now I reinstalled it to trouble shoot...its port explorer, It has to be installed or I cant connect to internet, and my trial already ran out, what gives??
I contacted AOL, mcAfee, and a few others thinking it was them lol, plz help...

Btw I ran reg. cleaner(s), file scrubbers,even the dreaded Dll cleaner, and my specs are....O/S=winxp
processor=2.4ghz pentium
ram=512mb
H/D=120gig
vid card=gef4 mmx440
ISP=AOL 9.0se was 9.0

Dowload WinSock XP Fix (the author's site is down at the moment):

Uninstall Port Explorer and then run WinSock XP Fix. Hope that helps you.

Hope so much TDS-D. posts back so we know if it did help here.
It happens incidently it seems, not sure why, but the explanation Nick posted gives some indication what might have happened.
