Would anyone know why NOD32 would make some software run slow? I was using AVG 7.0 and all my software ran fine. But I wanted to give NOD32 a try and for some reason it makes some of my software run slow! Is there a setting I could change? Or is this just how NOD32 is? If so then I will go back to AVG. I am just trying to Find the best AntiVirus software that does not eat up a lot of system resources! And will give me the best Protection. I remember reading that NOD32 is the best on system resources. But if that is true then my does some of my software run very slow with NOD32 installed? Like Skype takes for ever to open now that I have installed NOD32. It did not do that with AVG 7.0.

Is AVG 7.0 still on your machine?

Is Skype the only program that slows down or are there others?
Are you using XP?

Click on the NOD tray icon, Imon, and disable imon. Try Skype again. If it is still slow, leave Imon disabled and restart your computer. Then try Skype again.

Ok here goes! I turned off both AMON and IMON and Skype opens real fast again! Then I tried turning off just IMON but keeping AMON running but Skype still opens very slow on this setting. Then I added skype to the Exclusion list list in AMON And now Skype opens fast again. But IMON is still turned off! Don't I need both of these running?

If you have Skype excluded, enable Imon again and give it a go. Restart after you enable Imon.
Good point on using the exclusion list!

Try to exclude Skype also from IMON.

How do I do that?

Go to IMON, configuration or setup, then extended configuration or advanced configuration, and then modify the entries in exclusion list.
I hope that you understand, I've NOD in spanish.
If you add your program to IMON exclusion list, try to enable IMON and view if the slow continues. Note: If you exclude a program from IMON, it will NOT scan the traffic of this program (for example: if it's a mail client, it will not scan e-mail)

Another note: Exclusion option in IMON is available from 2.000.8 version and above.

Click on the tray icon. Click on Nod system tools on the left side under control center, click on information.

Apparently 2.000.8 and above aren't available for trial, only for licensed users.
Soon ESET will release a 2.000.10 version with many enhancements, I think that it will be available for trial and commercial users in while it's in beta.
Note: NOD is superior than AVG Pro 7.0.

Thanks. I didn't know later versions weren't available for testing.

Ok maybe I will wait for version 2.000.10. How long has NOD32 been in Beta?

Hmpf! Eset sure needs to update the trial version. 2.6?? Geez! That will really get folks to want to buy NOD32. :( If I could only trial KAV 3.5 I wouldn't probably be interested in buying it either. LOL What is Eset thinking in offering an outdated version for trial? That is almost as bad as Trend Micro offering a crippled version (no pattern updates) for trial.
gate1975mlm, the beta should be out publically any time now and as sir carew says the beta should be available for anyone to try. I have one version of the beta (tech support sent it because I was having a problem with crashing from a bug in the current version and the beta fixed that great). The beta I have has the new IMON. IMON has undergone many revisions since version 6 and I bet the current one will work with Skype. I don't have Skype so I can't test it.
