In the following 2 threads:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=34792&page=2&pp=25

Both report shutdown problems have now been traced back to IMON, uninstalling IMON fixes the shut down in 60 seconds problem. I too have a client with the same problem AFTER a fresh install of Windows at our shop, that PC is coming in on Monday. We know for a fact that the PC is clean, it was firewalled when connected to the internet, and it is fully up to date with Windows and Nod32. It is now obvious that he is another victim of IMON having problems.

Can someone from Eset give us a heads-up as to what is going on with IMON.

Cheers ;D

I get the same problem, and I have had this problem for months now, ever since I installed nod on a 2003 server. Every Server I have installed nod32 onto (and I have installed the right version) has this crashing problem. I tell nod about this problem and they tell me to download the latest version. I put the latest version on and theres no difference. We paid alot of money for this nod server license, and its a piece of sh$t. we had it on 3 servers, now its on 2 cause we uninstalled it off one and installed another antivirus and this solved the problem.

So much for the NOD32 religion. I've got problems with IMON too, I had to disable it.

I'm going back to eTrust.

The sky is NOT falling, I have installed over 400 copies of Nod32, and this is my first occurance of this particular problem, and it has only come about in the last 2 weeks. I cannot see what the difference is between this PC and any other, other than it being part of a VPN.

No doubt Eset are aware of the problem and are working towards a solution...

Cheers ;D

I have installed nod32 on about 90 pc's aswell, however its the windows 2003 servers that it has trouble with.

I have also found a problem with IMON and the ArcServe Manager software. When they are both installed the PC slows to a crawl however if you stop the ArcServe Message Engine and the Alert services the problem goes away, why this is I don't know but it had me scratching my head for a while!

I think there is new program component update available or if it doesn't work, use fix below.

Ok here is the fix. I got it from ESET support :)
ITS ONLY FOR Windows XP!!!

Usage:

- backup and rename the imon.dll in the Windows system directory
- save the attached imon.dll to the Windows system directory
- reboot the machine

check for changes.

Attached file is actually ZIP file, but i renamed it so i could attach it (for some strange reason i cannot access my own FTP).

THIS ONE IS FOR WINDOWS 9x ONLY!!!

Usage:

- backup and rename the imon.dll in the Windows system directory (do this in Safe Mode)
- save the attached imon.dll to the Windows system directory
- reboot the machine

check for changes.

I have not had any problems with IMON on my win2k servers. Though we use Norton on most of our servers and NOD32 on the workstations.

RejZoR thank you very much for posting those. It seems to have solved my problems. ;D

Not sure how this problem surfaced for other people, but it only happened to me on my desktop when I tried to make a VPN connection (windows PPTP). And it doesn't happen on my laptop. Both XP and up-to-date.

Glad to have a fix. Thanks again.

I also have had this problem using Windows XP Pro which forced me to change virusscan.

When I connect to the VPN I get the memory read error message followed by the 60 sec countdown shutdown.

Has this problem been fixed in the latest version? Cause I really like the speed and accuracy of NOD32.

Thanks
