Security Alert: FCC proposes mandatory Digital Rights Management
With efforts to mandate copy protection of digital TV broadcasts stalled in the United States Congress, Hollywood and the RIAA -- together with two Congressmen who are working on their behalf -- have approached the FCC (http://hraunfoss.fcc.gov/edocs_public/attachmatch/DOC-225218A1.pdf). Legislators Billy Tauzin and John Dingell, after failing to pass legislation in the house, have written the FCC, asking it to mandate built-in hardware copy protection in all devices that might record or receive a digital broadcast.
