The instructions for Hard Disk Manager 11 Suite make it look like:

1. Backup and restore runs on WinPE 3.0

2. All versions of Windows from XP forward use WinPE 3.0

But my research shows that WinPE 3.0 is specifically a feature of Windows 7.

Will Hard Disk Manager 11 Suite actually work in Windows XP, and if so, how do I manage system backup and recovery?

Yours,
Dora Smith

It doesn't matter what the OS installed is, as long as the PE supports your hardware and can read/write the drives. I believe Paragon offers an ISO file for burning, which is supported by all OS.

While I do not dispute what J_L said, it's my belief that Win PE3 is not fully compatible with WinXP for the following reason.

After booting up a PE3 disk to perform an image backup indexing errors always appear upon rebooting my XP system (reported by chkdsk). So while PE3 boots up fine, allowing me to perform a cold image backup or restore, it always leaves my system in a somewhat corrupted state.

This issue is not unique to a Paragon PE3 disk - it occurs everytime I boot my system with any PE3 disk (I've tried several)! :-\
