Users of Firefox v 0.8 should read this discussion before attempting to uninstall FireFox. While I don't clearly understand all the issues, its well worth reading this thread to avioid inadvertently uninstalling all or most of the Program File folder when wishing only to uninstall Fire Fox.

Hey Bdiamond, :)

Thanks for the link to the info, I guess I have to make some recovery/ pre-uninstall plans if I go for an uninstall of Firefox and keep an eye on those forums if there's a fix ... still love FireFox though ... and really, a smallish problem ;D compared to the repair work you end up with IE as my main browser ... LOL ;D

Dog,

I agree with you completely and wouldn't even consider making a change to another browser. I have uninstalled Firefox without any trouble, but it appears there can be problems with this under the right conditions. If it were a universal experience this would have surfaced in the forum a long time ago. I am still a confused about exactly what is going on but thought it might be helpful to call attention to it.

Old news.

To all new Firefox users, do not install firefox in something like c:\program files\firefox or in any subfolder which has other stuff you need. That will avoid all the problems.

I could explain the whole reason for this, but it would be pointless.

The installer kind of sucks if you put it in the default location, that's why I used the zipped versions + registry hacks for plugins support.

Hi Riverwind, :)

Unfortunately, I do have it installed in the default directory ... Do you have any advice if I should have to uninstall it ...

Please explain, if you don't mind. :)

Thanks

Edit/Update: Uninstalled FireFox from default location (after taking precaution steps) - I encountered NO problems ... Reinstalled in a different location - So far have not experienced any problems at all. - I guess it is only under certain conditions that it is a problem
