I have two DLL's left over from removed programs that I can delete. I have tried the program DeLater from DiamondCS and I couldn't get it to work. How do I delete these little buggers?

Hi WilliamP, DelLater is a command line program>
If you run delLater from a folder, you will neeed to run it from that folder or name the path such as c\delLater\dellater.exe C:\folderName\filename_to_be _deleted
As an example with DelLater in the root C:\ & notepad.exe as the target.
Start - Run - CMD -The command window will open
Type CD\ press return (enter key) - You should then be in C:\ (root folder)
Type dellater.exe C:\windows\notepad.exe Press return
Reboot and notepad.exe will have been removed.
You do not need to open the CMD (command window) but sometimes it is easier to see what is going on as you will see any errors.
From the help file:
1. Run dellater.exe <filename>
2. Reboot (whenever you like).
That's all that's required. After rebooting and logging in you'll be able to see that the file you specified is no longer there.

Pilli, help. One of the Dll's I'm trying to remove is in my documents in the SSM folder and it is mchooknt.dll. Now after typing dellater.exe into the command window what else do I need to type in?

I put this in dellater.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Lou Preto\My Documents\ssm\mchooknt.dll When I hit enter it said The filename, directory name or volume lable syntax is incorrect.

Well providing dellater is in the root folder of C:\ You would type something like "dellater.exe c:\program files\ssm\mchooknt.dll" without the quotes and press return
Providing that is the path "C:\program files\ssm\" where the .dll file is located so dellater.exe path\filename You must select the path exactly based in which folder the file is in
Or copy dellater to the SSM folder and run it from there, in that case it would be "dellater.exe mchooknt.dll" without the quotes and press return ;D

Pilli ,I have tried everything and it won't work. When I tried dellater.exe mchooknt.dll it said it didn't recognize it as an internal or external command.

Did you copy dellater.exe to the folder where the .dll is?
What I am not sure about is why you cannot delete it normally?

This is crazy but I have gone to the folder several times , right clicked and it would not let me delete it. I just did a search for mchooknt.dll and when it found it I was able to delete it. At least it is gone. Thank you.

If you have problems using a command interface with dellater then try TheKillbox from here: http://download.broadbandmedic.com/VbStuff/KillBox.zip
works in a similar way, but has a gui interface and a browse for file button, which makes it easier. then ghas options to deletenow, or on reboot

could you possibly delete it in safe mode?

I figured out how to get killbox to delete it on reboot and it worked. I'm not real familiar with doing things in the safe mode. I appreciate the help.
