four days ago I've installed LNS and I like it ... but yesterday, when I restart the pc it doesn't found any internet connection
my IP result 0.0.0.0.

check for virus, but all ok (I've Nod32)

what happened?

Hi Lilith,

it seems that Look'n'Stop isn't able to find a default interface to attach to.

What network adaptaters have you listed in the "options" tab ?
Did you have checked one manually or are you in automatic selection ?

It would help too to know your kind of connection, like DSL modem or cable Modem (+ethernet card).

Below is my configuration as an example.

I've cable connection.
Is not an hardware problem ... I restart with the Knoppix and there ... is all ok ...

You didn't tell us if you were however still able to connect to the Internet or not :

- with Look'n'Stop started
- with Look'n'Stop closed

It will help to find the problem.

If in both cases you can't connect, uninstall Look'n'Stop and on the uninstall dialog box, only let checked the first two cases (to save your configuration), reboot, and check if you can connect. If you still can't, you have problem in your windows configuration; if you can, try to install again Look'n'Stop 2.05 and reboot.

If you still have trouble after all of that, can you show us a screenshot of the interfaces shown in the options tab ?

I try to unistall LNS but the problem remain

IMHO is not a problem with the firewall but with XP ...

An advice, which rules I have to install, standard, enhanced or Phanth0m's one?

I'm sorry you have such problems, hope you will solve them soon.

About the rules, standard ones are the easier to use, they protect you while in the meantime not blocking your apps that you have allowed, they even without any efforts protects you from the famous current Sasser worm.

The advanced rules go further by blocking packets which have malicious properties (e.g 'FIN' TCP flag alone, or fragmented packets), but this might cause trouble if your ISP uses fragmented packets.
However it cost nothing to try, if fragmented packets are needed just disable the filtering rule which blocks them.

Phant0m rules was a more advanced set of rules from a Look'n'Stop user, but it requires more efforts from you to allow your applications to reach the web.


About your current troubles, let me advise you the following tool :

When XP is installed, before to connect, launch it and click all button (but NetBIOS one if you share files on a LAN) and reboot, it will make you safe from current worms.

When Look'n'Stop installed, you might want to import the following rules :

Just to be sure no worms can hurt you, and you will be able to see them easily in the journal viewer.
