Ashampoo Snap 3 can be found for free although for Windows 7 and Vista I don't believe it can capture audio except from a mic.

You could give a shot to "Free Screen To Video" 2.0.
-{ Quote: "Koyote Soft's Free Screen To Video (freeware) allows you to record screen activity to video files. You can record entire or parts of your screen to FLV, AVI, WMV or SWF. Very easy to use, Free screen to video can record mouse movements and audio from a microphone or directly from your computer's hardware. You can create help desk, online help, training, education and distance learning videos more easily. FLV and SWF format don't need any extra codecs installation. Everything needed is included in this freeware.
The tool would be useful for anybody looking to record videos for YouTube or a similar site from their screen. You can also create HTML web page of your recorded FLV video files automatically to publish on your website and share with the entire world.
The software supports English, French and Italian and runs on all Windows." }-

HyperCam 2 (http://www.hyperionics.com/hc/) is free
You can also check Screen2Avi Portable (http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Multimedia/Video/Screen2Avi-Portable.shtml) and watch some tests made by the author on YouTube
