Recommended free internet cleaners?

Hi.I am using Interet Organizer Pro 2.0.I have IE6 and xp home.I used to have Internet Sweeper but dumped it after the program was sold.Can anyone recommend a better free program than the one that I have?I use it to clean all tracks that I can safely delete(cookies,temp internet files,typed addresses,etc..)Any advice would be much appreciated.Thank you.

Xcleaner seems to be pretty good. Also Spybot does a lot of that.

I'm like u i've been looking for a program that would be free to take over IS. Hey mike xcleaner looks like a great program, but u got to buy it, do u know ne programs like that which are freeware(not demos/shareware)? lol ;D

WipeOut - I don't like windoze tracking everything I do and I I don't like the programs I have seen that clean things up so I set out to write a history and free space wipe program that is more suited to power users. Here are the features: Wipes free space on the selected drive, Clears cookies, temporary internet files, file access history from the registry and recent folder. Some of the power user features are select additional directories you want to wipe, registry keys you want to clear, cookies you want to keep, number of patterns to write to free space and registry entries before clearing and the thread priority of the free disk space wipe. For NT/W2K and XP users you a Miscelaneous tab will be displayed that will give you the option of deleting locked files and relocating the SAM file.

I haven't messed with it much yet, so I can't say how good it is. He has some other cool little toys on that page.
Looks like a basement coder, probably not out of high school yet, so use at your own risk.

I was browsing another post in this category last night.I forgot about a post by notageek from July,29.He found a promising program and discogail had the sites posted for download of ISystemWiper.I was going to look into this program before,but lightning zapped my modem recently and I forgot all about it.oops!LOL

heh.... i kind of looking for a free program like mike suggested... that erases history in programs that are in the registry i believe. Ne on ever try out mike's sugguestion "wipeout" ?

Try UltraWipe. You can find it at webaatck in the freeware section. It wipes the history cookies and so much more.

Thanks everybody.I am trying ilsystemwiper2.1 right now.A big improvement over internet organizer pro!Ultrawipe has a writer-over feature.That's a little intimidating,but I might try that also.I know that there is a difference between cleaning or deleting and writing over a file.Ultrawipe looks promising.I'll have to compare the two and see how it turns out.

Was a user of UltraWipe for while, wasn't that great. Very basic... deletes cookies, cache, history, and ne files u specified. It does not wipe files, although it states it does. I think u would be better off with Internet Sweeper, from a user of both .... my opinion is to go with IS.

I tried a few internet cleaners tonight.One obstacle is xp compatability.Sure delete had an error right away.Xblock is too limited in free version.But the pay version looks really good.They have a lot of positive feedback.If it does what they say it can,it's a versatile little program!I think I'll stick with System Wiper.I don't know that it actually "wipes" files either.Spybot has a shredder that I haven't got a handle on yet.With these two programs I think I can get accomplished what I need to.Thanks for all the links and advice.

About System Wiper.....You might want to do some investigating. I haven't used it so had no reason to check, but I remembered there being discussion of it being Spyware. I just looked around and found this discussion of "user opinions" at C/net:

I wonder who is right? Some of you using it might run Adaware/Spybot S&D and see if anything comes up after installation.

Hey luv2bsecure, I ran Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware free on my system after I installed it and nothing showed up. But you got me thinking now. :) Maybe a few other people that use the program can run one also. Only if Spybot S&D don't have a right click feature. :) I have this program named Silencer and it says it disables adware spy from calling it's mother ship (them aren't my words they are the words of the maker of the program). Not sure where I got it from if anyone wants to know let me know and i'll look for where I got it from.

luv2besecure,thanks for the "heads up".I just ran Spybot and it didn't detect anything.I checked my registry and there is no Netsonic identified in there.I haven't noticed anything different in regards to ads etc..I will do some investigating,but nothing so far.

No! No! No! Evidence Eliminator does not do what it says it will do. It is a poor choice in the extreme. I was involved in tests in South Africa and again here in Canada. There is LOTS of information. Find it at these two sites:

Tester I found another program at Cnet that you might want to look at. It's called System Washer8.0. I have not tried it yet but someone here might havce and they might be able to give you the run down on the program. Oh yeah and to let you know SystemWiper don't clean out the indax file like it says it does. I tried it last night and ran spider afterwards and it showed still stuff in my indax file. I also found stuff in my history and temp folders that it didn't clean either. Just wanted to give you the heads up on the program.

Tester- not a problem. I try to pass info on to people if I think it might help them. It's a same that the program does do what it said it does. But you know you get what you pay for. :) That seems to be the saying nowadays lol. I'm going to check out your other post and see what the prog is all about.
