Have you tried
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
(or replace apt-get with aptitude)?
What messages do you get?

I'm still fairly new to Linux, but when something like that happens to me I usually go to Synaptic and check out dependencies and versions for the packages involved and I've been able to figure out why it's not installing.

I was able to upgrade using synaptics but I get an error like this:

I have had this a few times. If I remember correctly I tried the next day and it was fine.
Also you can try doing the update via Synaptic instead of with the Update Manager - for some reason or other that also worked for me. I would have said switch to Main Server for downloading but it's a ppa.

Hello,
May I ask why you guys are making things so terrible?
Is it so hard to just type www.firefox.com and then download FF 5 from there?
I'm fairly new to ubuntu and hence I need to know what advantages you are getting to following that PPA path to update FF?
Thanks.
EDIT: As far as I know FF 3.6.18 is official rel ver for Ubuntu 10.04 ATM.

First of all, www.firefox.com isn't the correct domain name. It's http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
Second of all, downloading from there results in some kind of archive, not an installer (less convenient both on installation and uninstallation)
Most important of all, PPA's give you automatic (and easy manual) updates.
Ubuntu probably kept with it, because it's still supported, but that will change.

Best course. Usually when I run into that it's an issue of dependence on a specific version that hasn't made it to the PPA. I don't use ubufox (it isn't really necessary) so I can't confirm.
