Help! Does anyone know why SpyGuard isn't being opened by my Desktop icon, and only by my taskbar icon? Does this happen to anyone else? Also, what are you suppose to do to activate SpyGuard? On my SpyGuard control panel, the only controls that I have are Status, Reports, Options, Live Update, and About and none of these seem to active SpyGuard's scanning engine. Does anyone know if SpyGuard is suppose to work like other anti-spyware programs and scan your files and show you the results, or does it work differently?

The main desktop icon for SpywareGuard does not open its management interface. What it does is it starts SpywareGuard if it is not already running in the background. When SpywareGuard is running, you have the systray icon next to the clock that looks like: SG. If it is already running, clicking the desktop icon doesn't do anything.
The only way to open the SpywareGuard interface screen is to use that SG icon in the systray. So, what you are seeing is exactly the way it is supposed to work.
Now, as for scanning... SpywareGuard is an active, in-memory monitoring application, not an on-demand bulk file scanner. For file and system scanning, products like Spybot S&D and Ad-aware are recommended.
The important settings in SpywareGuard are the three items on the Options page. You check all three to enable all of SpywareGuard's protections.
