Why, when I click on 'Add to my friends' or on 'Send a private message' on this web site http://crossstitcher.webs.com/myprofile.htm ,I get whisked away to here - and then nothing else happens?!!!

http://link.members.freewebs.com/redirect.jsp?url=%2FMembers%2FMessages%2Findex.jsp%3Flogin%3D1%26composeTo%3D21006747%26next%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcrossstitcher.webs.com%252Fmyprofile.htm&referer=Profile

Clicking on 'here' makes no difference at all!

It's not important, I'm simply curious! TIA

Dave

I get the same thing. I don't know why but it shouldn't do it. On the Home page there's a link called "Some Useful Links" but there's no link for Webs.com. But at the very bottom of every page there's a link for Webs.com that's sorta camouflaged in the background. Either the creator of Joan's Place has done it intentionally for some unknown reason or the site's been hijacked.

Hi, you look different to your nick on here ;)

When i click those, or right cick & open in new window, i get to here http://link.members.freewebs.com/redirect.jsp?url=%2FMembers%2FMessages%2Findex.jsp%3Flogin%3D1%26composeTo%3D21006747%26next%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcrossstitcher.webs.com%252Fmyprofile.htm&referer=Profile

The second link you gave http://link.members.freewebs.com/redirect.jsp?url=%2FMembers%2FMessages%2Findex.jsp%3Flogin%3D1%26composeTo%3D21006747%26next%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcrossstitcher.webs.com%252Fmyprofile.htm&referer=Profile mentions referer in it. As i have them blocked, & NoScript on MAX, i wonder if that's why i get to a different page.

As i'm not logged in there, i & others would expect to be able to "Add to my friends" and/or "Send a private message" anyway, so us testing those options won't work for us.

See if any of the points i've raised are connected to the issues.

Have we met elsewhere? ???

I'm afraid that didn't help me! :'(

I expect you see this:- http://i54.tinypic.com/2s7hu1g.jpg

I'm quite certain that that's not what is supposed to happen (i.e. a miniature window!)

There must be a reason. I'm fascinated by things which occur which I feel are 'odd'.

Maybe there's someone here who can afford an explanation.

FWIW - I've tried this on both Windows XP Home /and/ on an Apple iMac - using a number of different browsers. In every instance I get exactly the same result!

One more point.

The second link I originally posted http://link.members.freewebs.com/redirect.jsp now directs one to a different web page!

I wonder if someone's changed something?!! :-\

Hi,

Well you did ask ;) It's the exact same www link you gave in your first post !

-{ Quote: "Why, when I click on 'Add to my friends' or on 'Send a private message' on this web site http://crossstitcher.webs.com/myprofile.htm " }-

I've blurred the face.

"Maybe" you don't see it ? & see this instead ?

227211

I had to allow it with my FF addon RequestPolicy in order to view.

Also as i intimated earlier, as i "presume" you are not her, when you click on 'Add to my friends' or on 'Send a private message' you shouldn't be able to do those things anyway !

I wonder if you are right about the site being hijacked!

I've most certainly an odd feeling about this!: :-\

Thank you for your thoughts 'allizomeniz'

On sites created now, the members private messaging feature is hidden and inaccessible until you sign in as a member.

Because this site is using the much older profile page, this feature is still shown and does not work." }-

But the reason it doesn't work is as i said earlier, & Erik confirms :thumb: You could see them, but NOT interact with them, as you are NOT a member. The software version is a seperate issue.

-{ Quote: "This does not mean that only members are able to see or utilize a site. It just means that features that a based upon site memberships require you to sign in before you are able to access them." }-

Anyway, all the best with your hunt, she looks very nice :D
