View Full Version : Is NOD32 5 Fast?!

Some complimentary comments about the new Beta beginning to fly, so thought I'd add mine. Aside from the Windows update 'issue' which I've overcome with the workaround posted here, I'm damn sure the Beta is faster than EAV 4 - all round...slightly quicker web page loading, apps, Windows Explorer just a fraction more responsive. I've been to and from versions 4 & 5 a couple of times and even had Avast 6 (Free) running on here to compare - EAV 5 is the one that I find I 'forget about' within a few minutes, i.e. it doesn't 'interfere' or make me feel that my machine is sitting in treacle! Anyone else have performance related comments?

After using ESS 5 beta, I can confirm the above statement.

Second that!

Was using avast 6 previously and although it is very light, i have found that other programs/applications open quicker using ESS5 beta.

I like it soo much that it is my full time security app on main machine.

I agree. Beta5 is working well on my system.
Thank you ESET.

My system was sluggish with AIS on my desktop Win7 ult x32. Replaced it with ESS beta and now runs smooth again. (AIS still on my laptop w7x64 though where it runs fine.)

Yes it is indeed faster than Version 4.2. So a lot of improvements have been done by ESET under the hood so to speak. :thumb:

I am not sure how it compares to 4.2 since I havent tryed it. ess 5 beta seems fast on my laptop. in depth scan took around 12minutes.
I didnt notice any drag on startup or shutdown.

I will play around with it a bit more tomorrow. I will leave ess5 beta on my laptop unless it causes any major issues.

My original thread seems to have gone off topic. Perhaps someone should close it?
