OK, my knowledge of computers is not good & some things are quite unfamiliar to me. I couldn't understand why the WMP plug-in would not work for Fx 4 (final) on my laptop (it was fine on my desktop which never had a beta Firefox version). I noticed an Fx beta file for one of the betas on my c-drive & deleted it. It was only plug-ins anyway. I may have renamed the file for some reason at some point in the past. I tried to delete this file but it mysteriously kept coming back! :o
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I decided to c&p the np-mswmp.dll file into the Fx 4 plug-ins folder (an old SeaMonkey hack) from this file that just refuses to die.
Guess what? Yes, WMP works in Fx 4 now :) . I reckon I didn't remove the Fx beta files properly & they are a tad 'diffracted' on my hard drive now.
I must be a bit of a plonker not to have thought of this before. Has anyone else noticed any file weirdness after trying any of the Firefox betas?
