Google powers-that-be have finally realized that not everyone has super-efficient internet connectivity. So they've set up a team to try and slim down Chrome:

I've been noticing that some of the updates have been ~25 MB and this had put me off the dev channel.

I agree that they should decrease the size of their browser, it's larger than Firefox and Opera put together.

Doesn't really make a difference to me since I update via portableapps, so I'm used to downloading the entire package.

When it auto updates, does it usually need to download the entire browser?

Portableapps.com has an updater (http://portableapps.com/news/2010-07-17_-_portableapps.com_platform_2.0_beta_5_released). I tried it a couple of times without success.

While we can’t predict all new features for this year – we doubt that even Google can – we know that at least four categories will be addressed: Chrome’s fat, the integration of web applications and plug-ins, cloud capabilities and the touch UI, which is already in its second phase following the initial release." }-

I don't use the portableapps app. I meant the people using the browser that actually have it installed and auto updating, does that need to download the entire thing on-update?

I don't get you. Could you rephrase?
