I recently learned support for SP1 in Vista will end soon so I thought it might be time to update. I had SP2 hidden in Windows Update so I attempted to restore it but it just disappeared. It's not in the list of available updates nor in hidden updates.
Windows Help says: "Some updates that you try to restore might not appear in the list of updates that Windows offers you. This happens only when Windows finds a more recent update that addresses the same problem as the update you tried to restore." My system information still says SP1 so SP2 should be offered.
I restarted, that didn't help. The SP2 installer from Windows Update was only 35MB and the one offered online from Microsoft is around 350. I only have dial-up so 350MB is out of the question.
Anyone have an idea why the update disappeared or how to get it back? Alternatively, is there anywhere to get the 35MB installer other than through Windows Update?
Appreciate it.
