Still no Slim version, and quite a few hours have passed. Does the standard installer now come without bundled software?

It didn't offer or try to force anything else for me on Windows 7 64bit.

I thought slim version had previously been released at same time?

I believe that's correct.....or WAS correct. I distinctly recall where builds were released simultaneously within the last year and earlier. The delay has been introduced in the recent past, for whatever reason.

Regardless, I've been installing the "Installer" version (full version, I suppose) and have not seen anything untoward. I do, of course, have to remember to watch for those checked boxes and make sure I uncheck them.

The full installer for this version doesn't include any optional bundled software it just installs CCleaner, because there is no need for a slim version.

Thanks.;D

The full version I just installed came bundled with the Chrome browser and wanted to make Google my default search engine. You can uncheck these boxes during installation, but I wish there was a slim version as available previously.

I downloaded the full versions directly from the developer's website. When I installed it on my Vista 32-bit PC an hour ago, there were boxes checked to install the Chrome browser and make Google my default search engine. I just installed it on my Windows 7 64-bit PC and nothing appeared to be bundled. I have no idea what accounts for the difference.

From where did you get the download installer?

I got mine from http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
I just installed it today and it didn't have any bundled software and didn't try to make any changes to my default search engine.

Maybe other installers on other download sites still have bundled software, but this one doesn't.

Thanks.;D

I downloaded the installers directly from Piriform's website. When I installed Ccleaner on my Vista PC, it came bundled with the Chrome browser as shown in brainrb1's screenshot. Yet the one I installed on my Windows 7 PC didn't even though it was the same file from Piriform. I have no explanation for this. It should be noted these installers are substantially larger in size than Ccleaner's slim versions so something is obviously added to them.

The installer might check to see if you have Google Chrome installed and if you do then it skips that step, if you don't then it offers Google Chrome.

On my system I already have Google Chrome installed even though I don't use it much, maybe this could explain why it didn't offer it to my system.

Thanks.:)

I read somewhere on the Piriform forums that if you've opted out previously CCleaner waits a certain amount of times before offering Google Chrome again.

Btw, do some of you here use or tried "System Ninja (http://thewebatom.net/software/system-ninja/)" as a complement to CCleaner? As a test, I tried it and let the program clean all it wanted on my fresh 7x64 box (and I mean a lot of junk) and nothing seemed to break then...

-{ Quote: "System Ninja is a lightweight program designed to clean your computer of unwanted junk, constantly slowing your entire system down. System Ninja features a fast and powerful file cleaner, Startup Manager, Process Manager, plus several useful tools such as CCEnhancer and FileAnalyzr." }-

-{ Quote: "“Almost a year ago I had some problems with Adobe Dreamweaver dumping, hundreds, even thousands of .tmp files in all my Web Design, FTP and local server drives all of which CCleaner would miss. It was way too time consuming to go through the whole drive deleting these files, so I wrote a small tool in Visual Basic to automate the process. As time went on I found more and more stuff that CCleaner couldn’t clean because of the limitations in the way it has been written. CCleaner finds unwanted files based on the exact location of the file, yet it doesn’t recursively scan the entire drive looking for junk. In contrast, System Ninja does not know the locations of the junk files, rather it scans the entire drive and performs a number of checks to decide whether the file is junk or not. This includes looking at when the file was last accessed, whether any processes are reading from it, what file extension it has, the file name and whether it is contained in any internal whitelist. System Ninja will never clean as much as CCleaner, as it was [built] in order to complement CCleaner, together they make quite a good team.”
(program's author)" }-

I discovered I still had leftovers from QuickTime and I too was eyeing System Ninja but I decided against it, I am afraid of getting FPs and from what I hear there is a lack of selection boxes.

Yes, you are right it does not have selection boxes but you can remove what you want and keep what you are not so sure about. It is not a substitute for Ccleaner but can be used after program removals to make sure if there is something left behind by Ccleaner.

I don't understand why recently there's been a delay with releasing the SLIM version?

Up until the past few releases, ALL of the versions were released at the same time. Now the slim version is usually several days behind. Pointless and stupid.

the slim version is a courtesy and shuld be viewed as so. they dont have to release any slim version at all so people need to calm down and stop acting so entitled.

They've been releasing the slim version for as long as I can remember along with the other download builds they offer. It's not a "courtesy"....just an alternative to their bundled crap that nobody needs/wants.

Has anyone noticed that the registry cleaner scan in this new version is showing more junk to clean or its just my machine ???

No slim is not a courtesy but a way to shut up techy types on forums. They feel less entitled to complain about bundle nonsense if they them self can get a slim version :) They don't bundle to annoy people but to make money. I have no idea why they don't simply skip slim version and put a price tag on a crapfree version, with perhaps a few extras as to settle the new wave of complaints - could be access to closed forum with goodies if nothing else comes up. 10$ not 19.95$ or 9.95$ would be fine for 9 out of 10 - get it over with :) I don't like these questionable methods like somehow finding it a huuuge task to release slim with full. BS, they do that to get more hits on full. Would much rather prefer to pay up. With a fixed no nonsense low price not warranting piracy that much I think they will make a small fortune.

I used it to clean the "junk" -- and it disrupted Chrome´s auto-update function. I had to undo the changes.

That "bundled crap" pays for your free software. Simply don't install it.

I have been using Ccleaner for years and sending a yearly contribution.
I think Ccleaner is getting to big for their britches. When they make their web
site so that you really have to watch what you are doing or you get something
you don't want. Also the latest version takes forever when running K-Meleon
at startup.
I am just a hairs breath away from ditching Ccleaner and using "Sweepi".
