Not sure whether or where this should be posted. Quite interesting I suppose.

How Tech Tools Transformed New York's Sex Trade (http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/01/ff_sextrade/)

-{ Quote: "The Internet and the rise of mobile phones have enabled some sex workers to professionalize their trade. Today they can control their image, set their prices, and sidestep some of the pimps, madams, and other intermediaries who once took a share of the revenue. As the trade has grown less risky and more lucrative, it has attracted some middle-class women seeking quick tax-free income.

...sex workers were turning to Facebook: 83 percent have a Facebook page, and I estimate that by the end of 2011, Facebook will be the leading on-line recruitment space." }-

Interesting is the wrong word admittedly, but it shows the increasing smuttiness of Facebook, which I consider a 'persona non grata' site for numerous reasons.

Facebook can eb good or bad, depending upon its user and user. However I think it might be a disaster to allow kids to use it esp un-monitored.

It depends on How Technology is used and by Whom. :-\

Not really sure how its a bad thing. The same business was going on before Facebook or technology. All it does is allow those people to pull in most of their profit.

Just think with all this technology its going to be easier to catch them. They have Facebook pages with names, cell phones, texting, etc. They have to give the names out to their possible clients. The more technology they use the easier to bust them and their ring in the act.

Controversial subject, which makes it quite interesting.

It is relevant though, particularly the safety and privacy aspects. It will be a real game changer, making different problems for both clients and vendors of such services.

Illegal, 'Shameful' or not, it's not going to go anywhere anytime soon, better to be aware of the potential impact of changes that will inevitably occur.
