Giveaway of the Day is an interesting site and sometimes they offer some decent programs for free. However, there is always a catch, they try to include crapware during the app install. We’ll show you how to avoid the extra junk during the install process.

Never seen GAOTD try to install any sort of third party application other than the one being downloaded and has likely been changed considering your article is now officially outdated by 1 1/2 years. I have seen the bookmark box, but thats not really anything to fuss over.

GAOTD has had some dubious promos in the past. I specifically remember the "whistler trojan" or something like that, was included in one promo about a year ago. It was caught early in the promo though. The software developer said his apologies, uploaded a trojan-free program to GAOTD for release and people went about downloading to their heart's content. GAOTD did not even seem to care.

I always run GAOTD offerings in a sandbox, copy the installed files and cull the serials from the reg hive.
