lastpass question

Hi

with opera 11 , there is a new extension to use lastpass with opera

it's the first time i use lastpass

my question is

why does lastpass ask to log in , it asks me my email and a password ?

will lastpass send my passwords in the lastpass site ?

i mean will all my passwods stored online ?

i wanted to install lastpass to sync for example firefox and opera passord , or import/export passwords from firefox and import to opera


really i don't like to keep all my password in a free service , honestly i don't trust

new extension? the opera lastpass extension has been around from at least since Opera went final

it asks for ur email (username) and password (the password u choose for lastpass), that is how u log into anything...

yes all passwords will be stored online

and ye u can use ur passwords with lastpass with basically every browser now.

but is really safe to store all my password online?

cheers" }-With the Firefox extension you can import from the Firefox password manager (Tools > Import > Firefox Password Manager). Don't know about Opera. Take a look and see if there is a possibility to export the passwords to a .csv file. Then you can import that as well.

Your passwords are stored online, but they are encrypted. The encryption/decryption is done on your computer, however. Steve Gibson talked about it in one of the Security Now podcasts. Seems he researched it quite thoroughly and discussed it with the LastPass people personally and said that he is convinced that it is safe and is using it himself.

Yes, the passwords are encrypted locally so the folks at LastPass don't have access to the information. They make a point of saying so because if you forget your master password they CANNOT retrieve it for you. However they did create an emergency password recovery option to help people. I've been using LastPass for a couple of years without problems of any kind - highly recommended. Just be careful to create a master password that is both strong and easy to remember.

Sans limitation, open and save as csv (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/opera_password_recovery.html). LP should then <and I can only assume> be able to make the import. I guessing this for FF (http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-backup-your-saved-passwords-in-firefox.html)?
