My desktop is an HP. It came with HP Support Assistant installed. It updates from time to time, but I don't really know what it does. I am sure I am not the only one with an HP computer.

What does HPA do, and is it useful?

Thanks,
Jerry

I have it on my HP Win 7 computer. I see no harm in it and it actually may be of help.

See this pdf file. http://h71028.www7.hp.com/hho/downloads/HPSA_5.1_one-pager.pdf

Hello,

I just purchased my first HP computer a few days ago. It came with HP Support Assistant (as well as over a dozen other HP programs), and I assumed it was bloatware. What does this program do that makes it worthwhile keeping it installed?

Regards,

Mark

I uninstalled it along with the other HP stuff when I got my Win7 laptop.

Personal choice really.

Mark, as stapp aptly stated it, it's a personal choice. I kept it because I like its update notifications of audio and video card drivers applicable to my PC. Also, I like the weekly Health Analysis and monthly Tune-up features. The Troubleshoot section displays lots of info & specs in a simple-to-access interface. And perhaps the most important consideration of all, it uses very little system resources (see below) so it's a keeper for me. Your mileage may vary. ;)
