I'm very fond of BitDefender free and I think it's a very good antivirus, but I noticed it has got some weakness. So I tryed another AV to use with BD to reduce the failures.
I tryed Panda, CA etrust, Command and Avast and I had no great improvements.
To my surprise my best result was using BD + Antivir PE.
i'm not a tester and so this is only my own experience. Have you got any advice or different experience?
Thanks.

I'll take it, you only use just one running resident - other one(s) on demand?
regards.

Just making sure - I wouldn't like to see a user running into trouble because of running more then one resident ones at the same time :)

Hi,
What are the weaknesses you spotted on Bitdefender free edition ?

c0ltran3,
My experience has been different than yours. I've used Bitdefender free with McAfee 4.5 on my office machine without failures/conflicts for months. I have also tried it on one of my personal machines (w/NOD32) for a few days, also without failures/conflicts.
My only reasons for uninstalling at home are: ver. 7.2 often (not always) requests a SYSTEM reboot after an update, and F-PROT dos has served me well as a backup (OTOH, manual updates are getting to be a drag IMO).
What sort of errors have you seen?

I am also on Nod32 and F Prot for Dos. I use Fp Check to update F Prot.
I was thinking of changing my backup scanner to Avast, Bitdefender Free, Norman (was free with my computer) or Panda Platinum (got it free a while back). Still don't know yet.
Thx

to Hokhost: I recommand BD as a backup scanner.
I'm very happy with this antivirus. It's very precise (I had no false positive) and has great unpacking capabilities.
But I noticed a very low ability in detecting dialer and not very good detection of trojans (it found about 50%/60%).
I never had conflicts with other AV.
