try control panel, internet options, security tab. click on custom level.
under Miscellaneous find the option "Launching unsafe applications and unsafe files" use the option prompt.

Is this what you mean?

1. Click Start, Run and type CONTROL FOLDERS

2. Select File Types tab

3. Select the file type from the list for which you wish to reset the Open/Save as option

4. Click Advanced

5. Enable the option named Confirm open after download

6. Click OK.

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me

Its a long list but .exe is not on there?

Its kind of a security pop up saying always ask before opening a file of this type.

I just leave it on in case i accidently click an executable file

there was a tick box that said dont ask again idea

I just want to turn the security for exe files back on

I found a post for vista with someone trying to turn it off

http://www.vistaforums.com/open-file-security-warning-t9611.html

AFAIK, it must be a downloaded file for the warning to work?? I don't believe it will work for an existing one on the PC or one transferred from a flash drive (for eg.)

Hi

I found out whats going on

I get the message again after I RE- downloaded the same file

222738

Its a program that uploads pictures and files so i can post them on forum.

Nothing dodgy.

the message only appeared the first time, then appeared again after i re downloaded it

Security has been restored thanks guys
