What is a Microsoft Office Professional 2010 Product Key Card ?

At Future shop here in the great white north, it is $469.00 versus 669 for the software?

Never used this but I could use the $200.

What is the catch? Downside?

TY. I had this fantsy that I could use this but it is only good for new PC's. That is if the link is to be believed.

technically you can use this on ANY system IF you can get one. thy are only supposed to b sold or included with a new pre built pc. but it will work the biggest issue i see is it is good for only ONE INSTALLATION and ONE SINGLE ACTIVATION. so if you ever need to reinstall you will be stuck. if you do somehow get one imo i would do a fresh clean install of just your os and office this way you can go back to the clean image any time you need to without needing to re-activate

Yes I see your point. It isn't such a bad idea anyway to have a clean image like that. Of course user would have to apply any fixes/patches since the date of the image, save all the user data on an external drive which again ani't a bad thought. Nice way to wipe as well any stray parasites we miss are gone as well.

But all this to save $200... hmmmm

The other downside is it sounds like an OEM version, and for those support comes from the hardware vendor, not Microsoft.

to be honest buy a technet account for approx 280$ you get 10 lic's for EACH VERSION of win 7 Plus 10 LIC'S FOR EACH VERSION OF OFFICE 2010 AS WELL. each are good for up to 10 activations.. WELL WORTH IT IMO

still 5 for each version is plenty imo for the price.. they always run specials on it also

wow and imo this is bs though.. im SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GLAD i took all ten keys for each product before this went into effect, i just asked and any keys already drawn will be fine and you will not get 5 of yuor ten taken away or id be soooo pissed. im using these on every day machines. that would just suck. as i said though if you can get a 20% off discount as they usually offer at times all over the place that would be 399-20% for 5 keys to EACH product imo would still be very worth it. but man glad i took all my keys already

Pete:

I was Staples today and they sell these. They are in two forms, some have MS support (more $) some don't.

Some can be used only on 1 machine others on more.

Some are upgrades from say vista to windows 7.

Looks like a new market is opening up, no install disk as you download BUT if you do images regular it seems not an issue.

The disks I got from Amazon were ( how to put this? ) flawed. Cheap yes but won't install properly and had missing components.

Moral? download direct from vendor server.
