Just clicked check for updates on my VM to update from .206 to .209, but when it was done it already showed .210 :)

This has only one minor change (see below :))

You can download it in about one hour from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=edgebeta for 32bit/64bit new installations or from http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=edgebeta64 for a manual upgrade on a 64bit installation.

- (P30) Changed the updater routine to no longer depend on registry entries (fixing a self protection issue)

Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for the testing :thumb:

Aren't these updates supposed to happen automatically? I'm still testing v.209 and it hasn't upgraded to v.210 as others have. And yes, 'automatically download and apply updates' is ticked.

This is a beta release so only beta users will receive updates. You'll have to have installed directly from the previous beta release to get to this one, but we tend to not push out automatic updates frequently for beta users until we're satisfied with the stability overall.

Hi Tony,

The Beta version would always say Release Candidate in the GUI!

-{ Quote: "The Beta version would always say Release Candidate in the GUI!" }-It does say this. :) I can manually update the program; in fact, just done this by clicking on 'Check for Updates', and now have v.210 installed.

Great and in the future you can use the links in post #2 to manually update and install over top if it does not auto-update! ;)

Hi all
updated fine here:)
No issues so far.

I have a couple of questions:
1) do you plan to make PREVX scan inside compressed archives?
2) Since I'm planning to replace PC Tools firewall Plus, do you know if there are any known incompatibility issues with Comodo Firewall v 5?

Thank you in advance:D

Cheers

To answer your Questions!

1. There is no need to scan inside compressed archives even if there was malware inside it can't do any Damage only if you decompress a run the file then Prevx would jump in and block if it was malware!

2. It should work fine with Comodo Firewall v5 but if you come across any problems just start a new thread and explain the problem!

We may be adding an option probably after the initial release of P40 which can supply archive decompression using a different type of approach: "executing" the user's unarchive application (i.e. WinRar) in Prevx 4.0's analysis system and having it extract the archive for us as it would have done for the user. This gives a more accurate view of what the user would actually see (if WinRar had an exploit, for example) and doesn't result in Prevx becoming bloated :)

However, as TH has said, there is very limited value in actually extracting archives as if malware would be introduced from the archive, Prevx would then step in and block them :)

just (around 2300 hrs UTC) happened out of the blue, no clue what could have triggered it, W7 64bit. a second prevx taskbar icon appeared, the initial one vanished when pointed at with the cursor, indicating that either Prevx or its shell crashed and restarted.

Does Prevx 3.0.210 conflict with PC Tools AntiVirus Free? Someone please tell me.

Hmm, I've never seen this dialog and can't really explain why it would happen. Could you let me know if you see it occur again and what circumstances it seems to happen under?

Thanks!
