Is there really such a thing that can be installed as a chrome/ firefox extension and used to access bookmarks from any PC?

Hi :)

LastPass is more about secure storage of Passwords.
It can also be used to access the websites you've got stored in LastPass.
But it's Not quite the same as Bookmark Sync .. If that's what you're after :doubt:

Chrome - to - Firefox
Firefox - to Chrome
&... Any PC

Google Toolbar .. With .. Google Bookmarks Button .. Springs to Mind!

Don't Use Chrome Myself!
But presume as it's Google .. There's surly a version of the Google Toolbar for it :-\

Saying That!
When I'm Using Opera...
Just use the.. Google Bookmarlet
And a Bookmark of my Google Bookmarks to access my Google Bookmarks page ;D

And even though I do have Google Toolbar installed in Firefox and IE8.
When Using Firefox...
This Firefox Addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3576/#reviews
Makes accessing all things Google .. Including my Bookmarks .. Easy Peasy!

I use Google Bookmarks more as... Back Um Up Marks :thumb:

Why don't you just run a "portable version" from a thumb drive or in my case, a memory card???. I just pop it out of my phone, into it's adapter (small and thin enough to carry in a wallet) and plug it into a card reader.

Xmarks (http://www.xmarks.com/) works on most browsers (not opera) and syncs between them flawlessly.
Sadly enough, they announced end of their service, but there is hope for a rescue plan (http://blog.xmarks.com/?p=1945).

Xmarks is for bookmarks what Lastpass is for passwords.

For chrome

For Firefox

There are a lot more web based bookmark managers that offer cross-browser extensions or bookmarklets:

delicious.com, diigo.com, blinklist.com

The disadvantage of these solutions, that exist parallel from the native bookmarks, is that the urlbar doesn't offer suggestions from your bookmarks. Don't underrate this feature.

Thanks. I seem to like diigo.com.

Seems feature rich and good. :thumb:
