I have WIN 7 with windows firewall and MSE.
Can I switch off Windows Defender?

I wouldnt. Its not even noticeable in the background and it may catch something your other AV's dont.

MSE has incorporated Windows Defender (you should be able to see the process MsMpEng.exe running) and should, on install, automatically disable WD.

If installing MSE didn't disable WD, you should do it manually.
According to Microsoft Answers (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/msestart/thread/5309cb8d-02e1-40e8-974f-0dcedb9ab9fd), that is.

Just folllow the instructions linked above.
