No, you're not going to end up paying for this later.

This is a limited FREE trial offered by Webroot to make sure you (and more importantly your computer) are spyware free. No billing info, email or credit card necessary. But if you want to fan our page we'd sure appreciate it.

1) You can download Prevx FB w/out going to FB
2) Prevx FB is not a limited 6 mo. free trial; it is free with no expiration

Ditto

I wasn't directly comparing the two. Just pointing out that W are now offering on FB as P already have done ;)

Just to make sure it's clear this free offer is for Webroot Antispyware, not the new Webroot Internet Security. Presumably you would need to add AV and use the Windows (or another 3rd party) firewall. If they were offering the suite I would definitely try it, but they're not :)

I don't want to go off topic, but if I remember correctly, someone said Prevx SafeOnline doesn't work well with DefenseWall. True or false? (because DW is my baby :))

Online Armor is/was the only one that I knew having some compatibility problems with DW (and it may be fixed by now?).

Actually i have it installed on my Seven x64, and i can say the last version of Spysweeper is very light, and run smoothly with third party security without down the Internet surfing. Tested against malware sample and it detect all of them.

This new version is for me very improved than the last

About 8000 ko process memory for the engine and the interface user.

Years ago I actually paid for SS. Not asking this in an A vs B context, but does it have any components that would make a PC with anti-virus of choice more secure than one using Windows Defender and anti-virus of choice? Secondly I've installed Prevx but it does run my 1G of RAM on this XP SP3 Pent4 machine quite high. Two processes are totaling over 20,000k in Task Manager. Is this pretty normal? Thank You!

The two processes from Prevx in Task Manager here total less then 10,000k on Xp Home.

I ran Webroot Internet Security 2011. I only ran it once a month and I never liked it. Lots of false positives and false whistles on leg. programs. Got tired of the hassles and went back to prevx off facebook free. I paid for webroot and like prevx free better. :shifty:

I would say the false positives came from Sophos AV engine. It uses Sophos AV engine in combination with SS's engine. Sopho's has had a lot of FP's in the past. I used Webroot's SS for several years in the past, and can't remember ever having a FP from SS. I have not used SS in 2 years so i could be wrong.
