(CNN) -- Facebook's outage that shut down the site for many users Thursday was its worst since it became a worldwide social-networking powerhouse, according to an engineer for the site.
In a blog post, Robert Johnson said an error in Facebook's automated system for fixing software problems made a problem worse instead of better." }-http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/social.media/09/24/facebook.outage/index.html

I never even noticed. I don't facebook, myspace or twitter. If we need to socialize, my wife and I visit and talk to people in person. We sure don't post our lives online, like when we'll be away from home, where we live, etc.
This need to announce what you're doing every waking moment is just nuts!!

Industry watchers say Facebook users suffering through the two-and-a-half-hour outage were like drug addicts (http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9136358/Twitter_outage_spotlights_addiction_to_social_media_crack_) going through withdrawal. Facebook's more than 500 million users have grown accustomed to sharing updates about their cats and colleagues, and posting funny pictures of drunken friends and kids acting silly. They certainly don't like it when the social networking site goes down (http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9187738/Facebook_apologizes_for_worst_outage_in_4_years)." }-

Facebook blames outage on internal config flaw (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/09/24/facebook_outage/)
It was inconvenient for many of us in the security community that use Facebook as a vehicle to exchange information that we normally would not have the opportunity to accomplish.
Comments are not to be construed as an embellishment to use Facebook.
