View Full Version : Increase size of System Partition (C)

I have an HP server with one (1) physical hard drive.
Yesterday I attempted to increase the size of the C partition by taking space from the D partition.
Things looked as though they were proceeding well, as I moved the slider to decrease the size of D, the size of C increased. Exactly what I was after.

However, on completion of the process, I ended up with the two original partitions and one unallocated partition. The size of the C partition was unchanged.
The Merge Partition function would not work, partitions have to be the same, so I formatted the unallocated portion as NTFS and now have 3 NTFS partitions.
What did I do wrong and how, exactly, do I do what I initially set out to do?

The advertising made this operation sound really simple.

Step by step instructions would be much appreciated.

thanks

Could you please post here screenshot of Windows Disk Management:
* right-click on 'My computer' and choose 'Manage';
* select 'Disk Management' in 'Storage';
* maximize the window;
* click 'PrintScreen'
* use any graphical editor (e.g. Paint) to paste the image and save it as JPG, GIF or PNG file;
* post it here

I am considering deleting the recently added partition, 'F", and starting all over again.

Is F empty? If yes, follow my instructions. If no, copy all files to another destination and then start resize.

Do the following:
* Run paragon program
* right-click F and select Delete
* press Apply
* right-click Extended partitions group (cyan border) and select 'Move\Resize'
221879
* reduce Extended partition size to keep unallocated space in front of it
* press Apply
* right-click C:/ and select 'Move\Resize'
* enlarge C to cover all unallocated space
* press Apply

All is now resolved and both the partitions are now the size, and where, I want them.

I appreciate your help on this problem, Mech_An.

I have now downloaded the PM11 server edition user manual and will get to reading it before my next sojourn into partition moving.

thanks again
