I was thinking of adding a second e-mail app to use on forums, web sign ups etc. My principle e-mail provider is Outlook. Can anyone suggest a simple one that won't conflict with Outlook or Firetrust's Mailwasher? :)

I use TheBat. Its light, responsive, and most of all I can configure it to do virtually anything I want. It also has plugin abilities for spam and antivirus solutions as well. This may not work for you because its a paid program.

Free popular programs are PostBox Express (Thunderbird derivative), Thunderbird, eMClient, and Pop Peeper. For more narrowed down programs that specialize in IMAP check out Mulberry or Sylpheed.

It has to be simple and free because it's just for things like forum ID and software reg etc. I already have Outlook as my primary e-mail.

I think what you mean is Outlook is the email client you use. What account do you have setup? The one from your ISP?

Since you are using windows, i would just open a free hotmail account and then download windows live essentials - http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials?os=other During the installation, select "Windows Live Mail" and it will install this client which enables IMAP (deltasync) with your hotmail account. Again, all free. You also get 25 gigs free space with skydrive - included in hotmail.
