Paid and free.
Email is important to me.
Paid account hosting my domain (giving me "forever" email addresses).
Via EuMX: IMAP, 10GB storage, web storage, unlimited email addresses, <$14.00/yr.
Free accounts for incidental / non-critical communications.

As few posts above have confirmed , paid is for business usage . It is absolutely unnecessary for a home user making no business to pay for an email account when there are many good out there such as GMail , Windows Live (Hotmail) , Yahoo , etc...

Free Gmail and inbox, I see no reason for a paid email service.

I host my domain email with Google Apps which is free. But I do pay for my registered domain name. Which costs less then $10 a year. This allows me to change email hosts quickly and have unlimited custom email addresses on my domain, which I can delete if necessary.

I bought Bluebottle account (for POP3), but it was actually worse than free Gmail, so I stopped using it. :)

Free is all I need. I started out with Hotmail/ Live Mail and it still is my default email that I pass on to friends/family members for now. I also have Gmail but that's used for other purposes.

All my accounts are free, except for the ISP account. I pay for the service, thus the email account that comes with it.
