This is reference to my post on a firewall for Mac OSX a minute ago on the 'other firewalls' page. Does anyone know what AV/AT is the best for this OS or direct me to a more Mac orientated security page please. I know there's less of a threat for Macs but it's still important to have AV/AT.

BTW, I've included anti-trojan (AT) in this thread to save creating the same post on the other anti-trojan software forum. I doubt there's a specific AT scanner s/w for Mac OSX.

Commercial AntiVirus programs for the Apple Mac include;
1. McAfee's Virex software; http://www.networkassociates.com/us/products/mcafee/antivirus/desktop/virex.htm
2. Norton AntiVirus; - http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_mac/
3. Sophos AntiVirus; - http://www.sophos.com/products/sav/
4. Intego AntiVirus; - http://www.intego.com/virusbarrier/home.html
My only experience of the above programs are with Norton, which my son runs on his laptop. This AV has never given him any problems as regards compatibility with his software/hardware. I have no personal experience with the others listed. I would suggest that you trial any ones you are interested in and see which one suits you and your pocket!l
For overall Macintosh Security have a look here;

I am not sure whether there is a specific AntiTrojan software for the Apple, but if you have a firewall and an AV installed, this should give you good overall protection.
Alternatively, you can have a look at General Internet Security suites such as;

My brother-in-law who has a Mac uses McAfee's Virex. He seems to be happy with it as he doesn't speak of any problems.
