Is it normal for svchost.exe to hit like 140MB if you are doing a Windows update through IE?

I think it is fine and it will vary (as in it will not always hit 140mb)

This is the first time I've ever seen this happen so I didn't consider this to be very normal, it even seems like M$ lists this problem on their tech site for a solution but it didn't work, can't remember the link.

I guess I'll disable auto updates...
