maybe this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Disk_Image
"..
In Windows, most dmg images can be opened using several other programs such as Acute Systems TransMac, HFSExplorer, 7-Zip (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7-Zip), UltraISO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UltraISO) or IsoBuster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IsoBuster). MacDrive[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Disk_Image#cite_note-MacDrive-8) can also mount simple dmg files as drives under windows, but not sparse disk or encrypted dmgs.
In Linux and possibly other UNIX flavors, most dmg files can be burned to cd/dvd using the program cdrecord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cdrecord) or directly mounted to a mountpoint (e.g. mount -o loop,ro -t hfsplus imagefile.dmg /mnt/mountpoint).

DMG files are mac
MacDrive is good for windows
The award-winning MacDrive is a perfect way to share files between Mac OS and Windows.
MacDrive 8 enables anyone using Windows 7, Vista, XP Service Pack 2 or newer to seamlessly access Mac disks (HFS/HFS+) of all types, including CDs, DVDs, hard drives, floppy and more! With MacDrive, accessing a Mac disk from Windows really is as easy and popping in the disk and clicking on the drive icon.
There are no special steps and nothing new to learn-just install MacDrive, and Windows becomes a cross-platform file sharing powerhouse.
Drag and drop, or just double click
Once you've tried MacDrive, you'll kick yourself for not installing it sooner. With MacDrive on a Windows PC no longer are Mac disks ignored and unable to be used. MacDrive helps Mac disks act and appear like normal Windows disks. You can drag-and-drop to copy files in either direction, or double-click to open documents directly from Mac disks
