Zoner Photo Studio Free (http://free.zoner.com/): free version of a new image editor with many useful features and a nice GUI.

This is what I use and like it a lot. Images load quickly, also plays videos and mp3's (with previews for them).

Took a look at the app. Looked interesting until I saw it's a 20 MB download. Too big for me! I prefer a leaner approach like FastStone Image Viewer or XnViewer... each less than 5 MB. They may not have all the bells and whistles of Zoner Free but I already have apps that play videos and music. Don't need my photo viewer to do it too.
