Hi Jan,

It looks like it came out the last week in March and you can get it HERE (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/updates/sp/vs6/sp6/download/default.aspx). I am downloading it now and will be installing it in the next day or two....

Regards,
Kent

I myself will make a full backup image of my system before I try to install it.

I'll also post a little notice in Update-Alerts.

Just a note:

Unless you are creating applications with Visual Studio applications, you should only need the run-times which are a 1 MB download:

Hope that helps. :)

ummmm...I think I found it *maybe*
Used file searcher and found a vbe6.dll file and properties says 6.xx.xx

But I do know that I would not have SP6, as have not dl any updates of that for quite a while.

Let me know if any other method of finding out, as I am sure others would like to know.

Ta! Cheers, Adrian

EDIT: thanks JC for that..yeppers, will get that.. ;D

OK, I dl'd from the link javacool gave [ ;)] and installed, rebooted and back online fine.

NOTE: Couple things that may be a bit confusing to uninitiated.

1: The download filename is: VB6.00-KB290887-X86.exe which is fine, I dl'd to desktop.

2: When I ran it, a little Browser window opened asking me where I wanted to extract the files to. I created a folder on desktop, thinking there may be file/s I have to put into the system somewhere.

3: I "pointed" the extract to the folder and extracted.

4: Inside then was just the one file called: vbrun60sp6.exe

So I ran that, it installed very quickly and then prompted for reboot.

Did so and here I am.. ;D I ran a lot of programs and all working just fine. *SO far* LOL

Cheers, Adrian.

GREAT info !!!

Thanks Javacool and Tassie !!!
And also thanks to Gavin !!!

Karma cookies for you all !!! *puppy* :D

I really have to apologize:
I confused the upgrade to Visual Basic itself with the upgrade to the free Run-Time upgrade.
It is indeed only the Run-Time upgrade if you want to upgrade at all.
That huge upgrade, which I mentioned earlier, is only a programmers upgrade (meaning: for those who make programs in Visual Basic).

Javacool was most definitely right !

I would like to quote him one more time:
