Spyguard vs Spywareblaster

Could someone please tell me what the difference between spywareblaster and spyguard is. Spyguard runs in the background but spywareblaster does not but it looks like to me that both programs perform the same functions. So it would seem to me that it would be better to run spywareblaster since I want save on system resources.

Since SpywareBlaster doesn't need to run in the background, usually it will use no resources except for when you run it once a week or so, for a minute or two, to check for updates.
